Scale Model Challenge 2012

Yes, it’s that time of year again. Time to start saving your hard earned cash for your trip to Scale Model Challenge 2012.
This year the event will take place on Sunday October 14.

On 4.000 square meters we present you the complete package: Over 90 traders and clubs from all over Europe will be present, showing everything scale modellers and figure painters could wish for.
Clubs & traders are still most welcome to join us, but as remaining space is very limited now, we recommend registering now.

Our line-up of special guests this year:
Adam Wilder will demonstrate on how to paint convincing metal surfaces on AFV’s.
The Massive Voodoo Team will be represented by a part of their members to lead you in to the realm of figure painting and ultra-creative modelling.
And we welcome back Jay Laverty; editor of Scale Aircraft Modelling. He will show you how to apply various weathering techniques on aircraft (or whatever it is that you wish to weather).
More demo news will be announced soon.

Back by popular demand: online pre-registration for the competition entries. It's cheaper for you and easier for us, so why not take advantage of the opportunity to register your models before the show.

Full information is available on our website: www.scalemodelfactory.com

We’re also on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/#!/events/111572712299286 . Check it for the latest info, in case you need more than what’s available on our website.
And while you’re at it: why not use our Facebook page to check who’s coming, see who you can persuade to buy you a beer, look for someone to share a taxi from the airport with or whatever it is that you wish to share.

We hope to see all of you at SMC 2012 on October 14, 2012.

Dunlop Art Car contest

Hey folks,

I hope you don't mind I post something which has nothing (yet) to do with scale modeling. It's been a while since my last post - I've been doing plenty of other things instead of modeling during the last few months as I'd like to focus a little more on the artistic part of my studies than on the industrial one.
To get more used to the competition part of working as an industrial designer, I participate in the Dunlop Art Car competition. The aim is to create a livery for the Ferrari 458 Italia which will be entered in the 2012 Le Mans 24 hour race by JMW Motorsport - the car will actually wear the winning livery during the race.
To have at least a minor chance to win the contest, I'd like to ask you guys to vote for my artwork - just click on the link below and 'like' it on Facebook:

Dunlop Art Car Contest

It would be great if you could share my artwork on Facebook in order to get some more votes. Your help is highly appreciated!

By the way, I hope to get back at my modeling desk soon - there is a 32nd scale AV-8B waiting for its paintjob, among some other projects... I'll keep you posted!

Silver Wings New Kit Contest

Dear Friends,

As always, the Silver Wings team would like to thank you, our customers, for making our family of kits a success. We appreciate the feedback we have received from around the world from modelers who have praised the high quality of our kits. 2011 was a very busy year for us at Silver Wings. We launched a new website and released more kits than we ever have in one year. Based on your feedback, we have plans for an even more ambitious 2012! As part of this plan, we are pleased to announce that we will soon be adding yet another new 1/32 scale kit to our stable of products!

This exciting new release, of yet another kit never before seen in 1/32 scale, will be officially announced on 17.02.2012, but before then, we encourage modelers to try to guess what it might be. This time, we will post photos and clues on our website to help you guess. Be sure to check out all the areas of our site to find them! To make it more interesting, the winning guess will be able to purchase one of these new kits for 50% off our retail price. In the event that more than one modeler guesses both releases correctly, we will draw up to four winners at random from the winning entries. Please email your guesses to newkits@silverwings.pl. One guess per modeler please.

The Silver Wings Team
www.silverwings.pl

PE Bending Tools

I'm in the market for a PE Bending tool - or at least that's how this all started.

While there are several units available, it seems to come down to the various Hold and Fold units and then everyone else. The Hold and Fold models seem to be the most highly rated from what I've seen and heard when talking to modellers. Personally I liked the looks of the Ausfwerks Fender Bender but that is no longer in production. I know bending tools are not for everyone - some are more comfortable with a couple of pairs of pliers but are the Hold & Fold units really the best of the best or simply the best of what we can get and is there room for an improved design? The reason I ask is that my company has a precision machining and manufacturing as a part of the business...(note lingering pause).

Anyone have any suggestions as to what features they would like to see available in a new tool design???
